Supporting Rural Specialists: Round Seven SSRS

Round Seven of the Support Scheme for Rural Specialists is now underway. 12 College Projects have been awarded Commonwealth funding to support ongoing access to a range of CPD, education and peer support activities for specialists practising in rural and remote areas of Australia.

In Round Seven, two Colleges are using the SSRS to trial and evaluate online CPD programs for their rural Fellows and five Projects will continue to implement educational upskilling and quality improvement activities based on successful project models utilised during Round Six of the Scheme. A number of new innovative Projects have also been funded, which will respond to clinical practice improvement issues within specific rural settings.

We are always looking to support the transfer of knowledge and learnings in relation to strategies to support the rural specialist workforce. So if you would like to contribute to an upcoming SSRS e-Newsletter, please contact the Project Management Unit at: info@ruralspecialist.org.au

Resource Support for Isolated Specialists RRMA 6 and 7

While funding has now been allocated for Stream A: Clinical and Professional Skills and Stream B: Clinical Systems, applications will soon be sought for funding under Stream C of the Round Seven Program: Resource Support for Isolated Specialists RRMA 6 and 7.

This funding will be directed to supporting access to CPD opportunities for specialists working in RRMA classified areas 6 and 7 (Remote centres with population > 5,000 or Other remote areas < 5,000) , who due to clinical demands or geographical isolation are unable to participate in Stream A or Stream B Projects.

Applications from individuals will be accepted up to a value of $5,000 and these applications must be supported by the relevant Specialist Medical College. Individual specialists applying for Stream C support, must also complete a basic needs assessment, outline learning objectives for the CPD activity, and complete a brief evaluation post CPD activity.

Further information including Application and Funding Guidelines for Resource Support for Isolated Specialists, will be available via specialist Medical Colleges in coming months.
